Katie is the author of several books and lives in Southern California with her husband and children. Here she is the director and founder of an assistance dog organization which trains and places service dogs with disabled children and adults throughout the United States. And if you couldn’t already tell, she enjoys writing in her spare time.
Unlike Ian and Minaya, she is not married to her childhood sweetheart – but rather fell head over heels for a warrior of her own; a Navy man who serves with the Seal Teams. She derives her characters from the personalities of her own children: one is a jokster who can’t seem to keep his comments to himself, much like Taven; another is quite angelic, gentle of tongue yet nimble and quick, much like Ian: and another is nothing short of trouble, just like his father, and you will see this future character depicted in Cadin in the fourth and final book of Lebreya. Her furry family members willingly supply their names for Lebreya’s animal companions, and her dearest friends are lucky if their own tales of life don’t somehow end up in written word. She finds it hard not to look at both the beauty and sorrow of life, without letting it spread its reaches into Lebreya.
